The Lambada Dancers

Posted by chakrapani (Hyderabad, India) on 19 March 2008 in Lifestyle & Culture and Portfolio.

This is the traditional dance of females of a very well known tribe(Lambada) of nomads in Andhra Pradesh. They are quite famous for their distinct and colourful dress up.They wear heavy adornments , countless mirrors sewn into their richly embroidered dress and heavy white bangles covering the whole arm. The Lambadas are believed to be the descendants of macedonian soldiers under Alexander , when he invaded persia and west Asia.
